MotoPPI is a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) app. Paste a listing link or VIN and get full vehicle history across 20+ databases, a model-specific inspection checklist, repair cost estimates and negotiation arguments - so you walk in already knowing the car. First check is free.
A quick, cheap first pass so you don't spend $150 on a car that's a no from the start.
The seller wants a fast deal. Booking a full inspection for every listing costs time and money. A history report is just a document - no advice on what to do next.
The whole flow lives in the app. From listing to a confident decision - no blind drives across town.
Cars.com, Autotrader, CarGurus, Facebook Marketplace - we auto-fetch the make, model, VIN, year and mileage. Or type them in.
In 30 seconds you know: branded title, stolen, lien, auction record, odometer rollback, open recalls. The deal-breakers, up front.
Point by point - paint, engine, suspension, electronics - with beginner instructions and a photo slot for every defect.
Repair estimates plus a talk script for the seller. You know exactly how much to knock off - and why.
Cars.com, Autotrader, CarGurus or manual
All databases in a single view
Damage map and auction photos
28 steps, one by one
A history report is just a document. MotoPPI ties it together - history, an on-site checklist and negotiation - so you know the car before deciding what's next.
One VIN, everything at once: salvage & flood titles, odometer rollback, theft, accidents, auction history, liens and recalls. Pulled automatically.
Was it totaled and rebuilt? We surface the original auction photos and damage map. Plenty of "clean" cars were wrecks first.
Not a generic list - the known weak spots of your exact model, how to spot each one, explained for beginners.
Every defect gets a parts + labor price from local shops. Plus a total and what to fix first.
A specific number to offer the seller - and a three-line script that justifies it with repair costs.
A 0–100 score, verdict and costs in one PDF. Send it to a mechanic, family or client - signed by you.
Whether you buy a car every few years or inspect them for a living, MotoPPI does the heavy lifting: the data, the checklist, the report.
Paste the listing link and in 30 seconds you have the history check: clean title or not, any salvage or flood records, and how much to knock off the price.
Know cars well? Charge a flat fee per inspection - the client gets a professional PDF with your name and signature. Low per-check cost on a pack keeps a healthy margin.
Independent inspectors and small teams run on MotoPPI: paste the VIN, get a branded report in 30 seconds, client pays on the spot. Less paperwork, more inspections per day.
First check is free. Pay only for what you use, or grab a pack if you inspect cars regularly.
For people buying one or two cars a year. Pay once, use once.
For people choosing a car from a few listings. Three full reports, no subscription.
For people earning on the side from car inspections, hobbyists and dealers. 12 full checks.
Dealers, lot operators and independent inspectors. Custom pricing, API, white-label.
MotoPPI is available now on the App Store for iPhone. Open the App Store page, tap Get, and run your first check. The first check is free - no card required.
Different model. A standalone history report runs around $40, and a pre-purchase mechanic inspection runs $100-200 on top of that. MotoPPI is a lean solo-developer project with no marketing overhead and no office, so the price covers the third-party data, the server, and Stripe/Apple fees. It's not a 'cheap now, expensive later' strategy.
Yes - that's one of the main use cases. You charge a flat fee for an inspection and report; on the pack of 12 your cost per report is much lower, so you keep a healthy margin per service. You can add your own name to the PDF in the 'Inspector notes' section.
Enterprise plan: custom pricing for integration, API, monthly consolidated invoices, white-label PDF. Email contact@motoppi.com with your project description and expected volume - we respond within 24h.
VIN is recommended - without it, we can't pull full vehicle history, title brands, stolen status, or recalls. But even without a VIN you get a pre-report (price vs market, basic data, known model issues), a checklist and an estimate of typical repair costs. Most listings show the VIN in the description or the window sticker.
Yes. We rely on public databases covering all American, Japanese, Korean and European makes. The newer the car (2010+), the more data. Pre-2000 models may have less detail.
Good news - the car is clean. You get confirmation of no red flags, plus a checklist of what to physically inspect on-site and an estimate of typical repair costs for the model. Better to spend a few dollars on 'all clear' than thousands on a surprise after purchase.
Yes. We don't sell data or share it with third parties. Payments are handled by Stripe (PCI-DSS), sign-in via Apple or Google. You can delete your account and all data at any time.
The service starts immediately after purchase, when we run the database check and send you the pre-report and inspection steps. Because it's a digital service that begins right away, you consent at checkout to start it before the standard cancellation window. If we fail to deliver the pre-report and checklist due to our fault, you get a full refund. Questions: contact@motoppi.com.
No - it works alongside one. MotoPPI is the fast first pass: history, title checks, paint and common defects, so you filter out the obvious no-gos yourself. When a car passes, a mechanic's full diagnostic on the lift is money well spent - and you already know it's worth booking (not a rebuilt salvage listed as clean).
In development. For now MotoPPI is on the App Store for iPhone - email contact@motoppi.com if you want Android and you'll be first in line when it launches.
A pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is a check of a used car done before you buy it: history and title status, hidden damage, mechanical condition and a fair price. Traditionally you pay a mechanic $100-200 for a PPI. MotoPPI does the same thing from your phone - VIN history across 20+ databases, a model-specific inspection checklist and repair estimates - starting at $9.99, first check free.
A mechanic PPI is the most thorough but the most expensive ($100-200) and you wait days for an appointment. A standalone history report is cheap (~$40) but it's just a document with no inspection or advice. MotoPPI combines both - full VIN history, an on-site checklist and repair/negotiation guidance - for $9.99 a check (less in packs), which makes it the cheapest complete PPI for most buyers.
